Riotous Indignation, the innovative force founded by Bob Clayton and Mike Repel in 2015, is back with their latest single, "Wheel of Misfortune." Premiering on July 3rd on Decibel Magazine's website, this groundbreaking track offers a raw and unflinching look at heroin abuse through a unique blend of musical genres.
"Wheel of Misfortune" begins with a haunting country/Americana intro, lulling listeners into a false sense of calm before launching into an intense thrash metal verse. This unexpected transition, complemented by hardcore-inspired breakdowns, keeps listeners on their toes, fully engaged, and constantly guessing what will come next. The bold arrangement of the song mirrors the chaotic and destructive path of heroin addiction, making for an unforgettable auditory experience.
"While I’m not aware of a song composed in this manner before, the combination of the lyrical subject matter with the cross-genre build-up delivers an unexpected punch in the face," says frontman Mike Repel. "It's the shock and wake-up call we want and deserve."
Riotous Indignation first made waves with their debut EP, Violentus Musicae, released in early 2016. Produced by Mike Repel and recorded at Dexter Labs Studio in Milford, CT, the EP was mixed by Nick Bellmore and mastered by Chris “Zeuss” Harris. Since then, the band has been steadily releasing previously unreleased music in the form of singles, gaining traction on both terrestrial and internet radio.
"Wheel of Misfortune" stands out not just for its innovative musical arrangement but also for its brutally honest lyrics. Repel's introspective writing, combined with his performance, recording, mixing, and production skills, results in a track that is both musically and emotionally impactful. Mastered by Doug McBride at Gravity Studios, the single is poised to make a significant impact on the music scene.
