Italian artist Piergiorgio Corallo unveils In via di sviluppo (“Under Development”), his debut album that deliberately resists resolution, cohesion, and easy categorization.
Blending alternative rock and electronic music, the record exists in a state of suspension, embracing instability, friction, and accumulation as its core principles. More than a title, In via di sviluppo functions as a method: an open-ended work where development is never completed and form remains fluid.
With a background rooted in visual arts — painting, sculpture, and photography — Corallo approaches music as material rather than narrative. Sound is treated as substance: guitars carve space, electronic textures shape surfaces, and the voice acts as a structural element instead of a central storyteller. The album unfolds like a living organism, driven by tension rather than balance, where subtraction and layering replace traditional songwriting logic.
Musically, In via di sviluppo moves freely across alternative rock, post-punk urgency, restrained electronics, and moments that brush against punk abrasion, techno repetition, and orchestral gestures. These elements are not fused into a single identity but allowed to coexist in contrast, mirroring a contemporary reality fractured by overload, contradiction, and emotional disobedience. Imperfection is embraced as language, with exposed structures, irregular dynamics, and excess preserved rather than polished away.
The album’s sonic and visual atmosphere is deeply tied to Southern Italy, particularly the post-industrial landscapes of Puglia. Mediterranean light, everyday beauty, environmental damage, and industrial decay exist side by side, shaping a post-apocalyptic tone that feels immediate rather than speculative. Collapse is not imagined as a future event, but documented as a present condition — where noise becomes texture and anxiety becomes rhythm.
Opening track “Non si vede” establishes the album’s refusal of immediacy through slow accumulation and emotional distance, while closing track “Erase her name” transforms erasure into an act of survival instead of negation. Between these points, the album unfolds as a sequence of emotional states rather than a linear journey. In via di sviluppo offers no answers and no comfort, accepting incoherence as honesty and treating perpetual development as the only possible destination.
