Long-running Texas thrashers VALKYRIE are back with a vengeance. Their newest single, “The Beast Within,” is a punishing blend of old-school thrash aggression and modern metal firepower—delivering a powerful statement from a band with roots tracing all the way back to the metal golden age of 1985.

Originally emerging from the vibrant San Antonio scene with their cult-classic demo “Choosers of the Slain”, VALKYRIE quickly gained a reputation for blistering live shows and high-voltage musicianship. After an extended hiatus, during which vocalist Joe Gregory pursued writing and family life, and guitarist Scott Stine built a prolific musical career and international acclaim, the band officially roared back to life in 2018.

Following the re-release of “Choosers of the Slain” in 2019 and acclaimed singles like “Submissive Decay” and “Heavy Is My Crown”, “The Beast Within” marks a new high point in Valkyrie’s resurrection. Featuring powerhouse drummer Matt Thompson (King Diamond) and production magic from Derek Taylor (renowned guitarist and producer), the track fuses feral thrash energy with a refined modern sheen.
