Tokyo Drive has just dropped their long-awaited album Burnout Season, now available on all major digital platforms. Recorded at Dry House and Black Stork Studios and produced by Renato Osorio, the record marks a bold new chapter in Brazilian rock, combining weight, emotional depth, and authenticity across eight powerful tracks.
Formed in 2022 in Porto Alegre, Tokyo Drive emerged with a clear mission: to challenge the limits of rock subgenres. In Burnout Season, that vision takes shape in a visceral body of work that navigates between alternative rock, modern metal, and raw ballads—while preserving the band’s unique and emotionally driven identity.
The lineup features Marcelo Peters Melo (guitars and vocals), Murilo Bittencourt (guitars), Leonardo Melo (bass and vocals), and Chantós Mariani (drums and piano), with guest keyboards by Vinícius Möller on the track Sweet Delusion. The album was mastered by Benhur Lima, and the cover artwork was created by Gabriel Costa Ijuí.
The album began to take shape during the pandemic, following the traumatic breakup of a previous band. Isolation and the need to release bottled-up emotions became the creative fuel behind the project. Since their stage debut in 2022—including opening for Guns N’ Roses in Porto Alegre—Tokyo Drive has proven they’re here to stay. With Burnout Season, the band delivers more than an album—it’s a declaration of artistic purpose: to make music that is honest, intense, and unapologetic.
“The album talks about a bit of everything: broken relationships, envy, exhaustion, disillusionment—but also love, growth, and resilience,” the band explains. “You could say it’s an album about the human experience, and the title reflects that widespread burnout imposed by our routines and society.” With a sound that flows through alternative rock, touches of metal, and raw ballads like Sweet Delusion, the band maintains a diverse identity—rejecting labels and defying expectations. “Our goal was to treat each song like a single, with strong hooks made to be sung in unison at shows.”
