Norwegian progressive sludge-metal band Octohawk returns with “Torn Between”, one of their most intense and psychologically charged tracks to date. Released through The Norwegian Sound, the single dives deep into themes of inner conflict, self-destruction, and the fragile boundary between control and collapse.

Driven by aggressive, lead-heavy riffs, shifting rhythmic patterns, and Octohawk’s signature balance between crushing heaviness and atmospheric tension, “Torn Between” unfolds as a volatile and emotionally charged composition. The song moves with a restless energy that mirrors the instability at its core — constantly pushing forward while threatening to break apart at any moment.

Lyrically, the track explores a fractured state of mind where opposing forces coexist and collide. Themes of self-sabotage, psychological pressure, and internal division run throughout the song, capturing the sensation of being trapped between destruction and resistance. Fleeting moments of clarity emerge only to disappear again as the narrative spirals deeper into chaos, inevitability, and emotional collapse.

Musically, Octohawk continues to refine their unique blend of sludge metal, progressive aggression, and cinematic atmosphere. Massive riffs collide with dynamic transitions and hypnotic grooves, creating a dense and immersive soundscape that feels both oppressive and deeply emotional.

The single was mixed and mastered by Kjetil Ottersen at Vektor Facilities, delivering a powerful production that emphasizes both sonic impact and atmospheric depth.

Formed in 2020 by members of Mammüth, Ninth Circle, Cassidy, and Dead Sheriff, Octohawk has established itself as a distinctive force within Norway’s heavy music scene through genre-defying songwriting and intense live performances. Following the critically acclaimed albums Animist (2021) and Determinist (2023), “Torn Between” continues the band’s exploration of existential and psychological extremes.
