The world is suffocating — and Major Frog is here to scream it back to life. The new punk-metal solo project from Canadian multi-instrumentalist Jessie-William Chartrand has officially released its debut album, a furious and unfiltered statement that blends hardcore punk, old-school metal, and raw DIY energy.

Conceived in the summer of 2023, Major Frog was born out of a desire to create something wholly independent and deeply expressive. Drawing inspiration from bands like Dayglo Abortions, Fugazi, Bad Brains, and Refused, Jessie-William set out to write and record an album that channels frustration, defiance, and passion — with no pretension, no polish, and no compromise.

Almost every instrument on the album was performed by Jessie-William himself, with the exception of drums, under the production of Olivier-Audet Lavoie. The result is a sharp, compact collection of short, explosive tracks that hit with both urgency and intensity.

Lyrically, the album dives into themes of social anxiety, systemic injustice, loss of self-confidence, bad faith, and the need for personal and societal change. Songs like "Start the Attack" deliver a scathing reflection of modern life — calling out the hypocrisy, the corruption, and the cultural decay that’s eroding society from the inside out.

“This isn’t about reinventing the wheel,” Jessie-William says. “It’s about playing loud, fast, and true — reconnecting with the root of what made us fall in love with punk and metal in the first place. It’s about heart, rage, and the will to say something real.”

In a time when authenticity feels rare and rebellion is commodified, Major Frog delivers a refreshing slap in the face — a reminder that punk isn’t dead, and that music can still be a weapon, a release, and a cry for something better.
