The brand new, furious-five-piece known as floodlit is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated debut single, "AMa | အစ်မ," available everywhere this month on Friday the 21st. This devastating anthem of poetry and power chords is an intoxicating blend of melodic hardcore and stadium rock and will firmly establish floodlit’s official assault on the heavy music scene. Indeed, before the songs’ official release, with only a handful of entrancing video teasers, the band managed to DIY-summon over 2.5k social media followers and subscribers from all over the world, reaching over 150k impressions.

floodlit’s lead composer and frontman, Elijah Kellogg, shares his personal insight into the band’s debut: “For nearly four years I lived and worked and helped build up a farming community in the jungles of northern Myanmar, a beautiful land that I still call home. But in 2021, in the wake of the military coup and resulting civil war, my family was emergency evacuated and we have not been able to return to my beloved Myanmar since. I have always been a musician and wrote and performed in bands long before moving overseas. After coming back to the US, and with little to go on, I got back into music with new friends, and we started creating an album to mourn for my Myanmar family. ’AMa’ means ‘elder sister’ in the Burmese language and is most often used as a term of endearment for any women within your generation who might be older than you, including your own wife.

In story of this song, a nameless—but all too well known—man from Myanmar mourns the tragic murder of his wife and son at the hands of the military. Though sad and detailed, it is an important and universal reminder for all people to mourn the senseless loss of warring states and cry for justice even when no one is listening. My bandmates and I are truly honored to see “AMa” and her companion album—her whole family—soon travel to anyone who will listen and breathe new life into your yearning and fight for light and justice in a dark age.”

Along with the rest of the album, set to debut in spring 2026, “AMa” was produced by Billboard chart topper, Stephen Rezza, assistant engineered by platinum streaming and Grammy nominated, Luke Dimond, and mixed/mastered by multi-award winning and multi-Billboard #1 engineer, Seth Munson.
