‘Do You Think You Know Me’ is the title of the first EP by Dark Matter, released on 16 May. The Tuscan band from Pietrasanta, Versilia, formed in 2024 from the meeting of Ennio Tonin (guitar and vocals) and Lapo Santini (drums). They found their definitive line-up at the beginning of 2025 with the addition of Alessandro Pardini on bass. A talented musician from Pisa, withyears of experience.

This power trio’s sound is strongly influenced by 70s and 90s rock, but they also wisely add blues rather than dark or new wave nuances. Depending on the piece, each of the three members shines their own light.

This EP, produced by Alessandro Pardini, who is also credited with playing keyboards on the tracks “Someone Else to Blame” and “Empty Cup”, opens with distorted guitars combined with a pressing and convincing rhythm section.

In ‘Wrong Day’, the band successfully ventures into a bluesy riff, with Lapo’s skilful drumming giving the song a captivating groove.

The EP closes with its title song, a beautiful rock ballad in which Ennio’s lyrics and melody make it a little gem. Overall, this is a convincing piece of work and an excellent starting point, looking forward to hearing more from this band soon. Those who like rock and music made in an honest and sincere manner will surely find in Dark Matter excellent companions.
