Costa Rican death metal force Brain Death, active since 2010, return with their new single “Energy Centers” a track that perfectly captures the band’s evolution: heavy, groovy, and suffocatingly tight, yet layered with atmospheric tension and emotional depth.

Built on crushing riffs, sharp rhythmic shifts, and dynamic contrasts, “Energy Centers” dives into a sound that is both modern and primal. Thunderous guitars and aggressive vocals collide with unexpectedly calm, ambient passages — moments that increase the pressure until the next wave of groove-driven intensity hits. The result is a song that balances brutality and introspection, channeling the band’s signature power while pushing their creativity further than ever.

With more than a decade of activity, Brain Death have released multiple singles and four records, including the albums World Sickness Devastation, the EP Nota Savior, and tracks like “Nocturnal” and “Not A Savior,” which helped define the band’s identity: heavy, riff-driven death metal with distinctive structures and a raw edge.

Throughout the years, the band has evolved not only in sound but in lineup, continually refining their style and expanding their creative reach. Their music incorporates powerful grooves, melodic touches, and inventive arrangements — a blend that has earned them recognition inside and outside Costa Rica.

Brain Death have shared stages with major metal acts nationally and internationally, performing alongside Transmetal, Advent of Bedlam, Pneuma, Deznuke, Nostoc, Sight of Emptiness, among others. One of their career highlights was performing at the Santos Rock Festival (2023) — one of their biggest shows to date.

In 2014, the band collaborated with Rodrigo Chaverri, former drummer of Sight of Emptiness, a key moment in shaping their sound. This partnership led to the creation of Condemned to Extinction, which featured the standout single “In the Name of Science” — known for its groove-forward approach and refreshing melodic infusion.

Most recently, Brain Death released their 2025 EP Supernatural, exploring themes of personal growth, transformation, and resilience.
