The Norwegian progressive sludge-metal band Octohawk returns with their most crushing release to date: the new single “Make It on the Crust,” out now via The Norwegian Sound. Renowned for their fusion of crushing sludge heaviness, melodic depth, and progressive aggression, the band continues to push boundaries following their critically acclaimed albums Animist (2021) and Determinist (2023).

“Make It on the Crust” is an existential sonic assault built on riff-drenched guitars, shifting rhythmic terrain, and Octohawk’s signature balance of brutality and atmosphere. The track reflects on humanity’s fragility and insignificance — portraying us as small beings walking on a thin crust atop a sphere of molten iron, unaware of the chaos beneath our feet.

Staying true to their fiercely independent ethos, Octohawk accompanies the single with a fully DIY-produced music video, written, filmed, and edited entirely by the band. This time, the visuals feature the children of several band members, introducing an unexpected emotional and human contrast to the song’s cosmic darkness. The result is a raw, imaginative, and deeply personal audiovisual experience that underscores the band’s commitment to full creative control.

Formed in 2020 by members of Mammüth, Ninth Circle, Cassidy, and Dead Sheriff, Octohawk has quickly carved out a distinct identity in the Norwegian metal scene through genre-defying songwriting and intense live performances. Now officially signed to The Norwegian Sound, the band enters a bold new release cycle — with “Make It on the Crust” serving as a powerful opening statement of what’s to come.
