Founded and led by drummer and song-writer James DiNanno, Callisto will be releasing several singles in anticipation of their debut album coming in April 21st, 2023
On February 10th, up and coming arena rock band Callisto announces the release of their debut single “This is Awkward”. Founded and led by drummer and song-writer James DiNanno, Callisto will be releasing several singles in anticipation of their debut album coming in April 21st, 2023.
The first single, which is sure to become the arena rock anthem of 2023, is out new along with an electrifying music video that is sure to evoke nostalgia in audiences, reminding them of the MTV era that is loved to this day.
The incredible debut single encapsulates the grit and bombastic energy of iconic anthems such as Nirvana “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Blur “Song 2”, and proves that Callisto is a force that is not going anywhere. Fusing elements of grunge, punk, and rock, the three vocalist band with a drummer songwriter not only exemplify their talent as musicians in “This is Awkward”, but their skills as songwriters as well.
"You can feel it. People are ready for a new rock movement, something that pulls along a piece of nostalgia, without being tied to it,” Said Callisto. “This one was lightning in a bottle for us. The song basically wrote itself and defined everything we'd write moving forward. It's got a special kind of urgency to it that really resonates."
In addition to the single and music video, the group will be releasing a series of “behind the song” videos where audiences can learn more about what it took to put these songs together, allowing them to connect with the band on a new level. “This Is Awkward” is the first of several singles to be released, leading to the group’s highly anticipated debut album, which is set to release April 21st.

About Callisto:
Having started out as a side project for most of the members, Callisto began creating music together purely for fun when they realized they had something great that needed to be shared. Comprised of James DiNanno, Howi Spangler (from renowned Reggae band Ballyhoo!), Brandon Hardesty (from the Bumpin Uglies) and Rob DiNanno, the three vocalist band brings something familiar to fans of the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and Blink-182, while bringing a modern edge that speaks to fans of Turnstile and Bring Me the Horizon.
