The debut EP from New Jersey Black Metal/Dark ambient artist Abhoth was born out of a frost bitten bleak winter. Solo member Baynn began recording his misanthropic music in early January of 2024 during the year's first snowfall. While creating a malevolent tone through heavily distorted guitars and reverb, Abhoth combines this with the desolate imagery of a winter-laden Pine Barrens of New Jersey.
Introducing the EP with the haunting tones of The Soil, brings the listener to the isolation of a forest to escape an inhospitable populus. This is paired with the slow synth track Belleplain Frost, a dark meditation of gaining strength through this solitude. Home recorded, Abhoth EP is neither polished or sterile, just as intended.
